Testing Your Car's Battery

If you are having an issue starting your car, you may need test the battery. You will need a voltmeter for this purpose

The first check in testing your car's battery on your own is to turn off the ignition and then remove the battery's positive terminal cover. Attach the positive lead from the voltmeter to the positive battery terminal. You then repeat this process with the negative lead and negative terminal on the battery.

If the battery is in good condition, the voltmeter should read between 12.4 and 12.7 volts. If the voltmeter reads below 12.4, the battery needs to be recharged and there may be an issue with it. The time may have come for the battery to be replaced.

Visit our service center at Audi Beverly Hills at your convenience and we will run a professional diagnostic test on your car's battery. We can replace your battery if that is necessary.
