If you can picture an A4 Allroad with less ground clearance, no lower-body cladding and a 450-horsepower bi-turbo V6 under the hood, you can envision the 2018 Audi RS4 Avant. Yes, the Allroad may be based off the Avant wagon offered overseas—long pined for on our shores, we might add—but its lower ride height and mighty bi-turbo V6 make it quite a different creature.
They seem to think Americans don’t like wagons, yet whenever one debuts, enthusiast clamoring reaches a fever pitch. It will in this case, too, as no RS4 sedan is planned for any market at this point. So, the RS4 Avant will be as close as the world gets, and it’s a doozy. Its potent bi-turbo V6 sends its 450 horses and 443 lb-ft of torque to a rear-biased quattro system through a ZF-supplied eight-speed auto. Peak torque kicks in at a scant 1,900 rpm and holds fast to 5,000, rocketing the wagon to sixty in just 4.1 seconds.
While we pray mightily to the RennSport gods in hopes of a U.S.-spec RS4 Avant, you can enjoy other recently arrived RS models among our new Audi offerings. Among these are the comparable RS5 Sportback and forthcoming RS3. Let our Beverly Hills. CA sales team know if you’d like to learn more.
