If you've long been a fan of vehicles marked with the four rings, you may be wondering, "What does Audi mean?" The name "Audi" is a Latin translation of the founder August Horch's surname. Since his surname, "Horch," had already been trademarked, when he founded Audi he used the Latin translation at the suggestion of one of his business partners. History of Audi
In 1899, Horch & Cie. was founded by August Horch in Cologne. Due to disagreements with the board, August left the company and founded Audi, his second car company. In just a few years, Audi became internationally known thanks to its winning streak in the Austrian Alpine Runs from 1911 to 1914. While August left the company after the First World War, Audi continued on to become a top luxury brand.
Audi Logo
You can't discuss the history of Audi without touching on the Audi logo. The four rings that form the logo represent the joining of four previously independent motor-vehicle manufacturers; Audi, DKW, Horch, and Wanderer. In 1932, they joined together to form what has now become Audi AG.

- Audi e-tron® - Delivers an all-electric SUV, and forthcoming Sportback and GT models
- Audi MMI® - Scroll and swipe your way through climate control, entertainment, and more with this touchscreen technology
- Audi TFSI® - Delivers more power and better fuel economy on the roads of West Hollywood bycombining direct-injection with forced induction supercharging or turbocharging
While these innovations are impressive, they only scratch the surface of advancements Audi luxury cars have made.
